I almost want to finish this title with...Confusion. As much as everybody loved this episode, it left me feeling quite unsatisfied. Don't get me wrong, I lurves me some Desmond (Rowr!), and I even went "awww..." over the final telephone scene, but still...I didn't think it was the best episode evah.

For one, I was disappointed in the whole "time travel" bit. Yea, I know Desmond's FBs have been all about the TT, but it left me feeling like the writers took an easy out by going sci-fi on us. Nevertheless, this is my beloved Lost and I'll stick with it through thick & thin, sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer...

How many times does Harold Perrineau's name need to be in the credits before we actually see him in a scene? Same goes for the kid who plays Walt and the woman who plays Regina (?). Speaking of which, I didn't see a woman on the freighter and I have a feeling there are a lot more people that teeny freighter are hiding. And at least one is a friend of the Losties, and one is a friend of Ben's. Could be one-in-the-same, but we'll see. Creepy what happened to Minkowski...I had grown to like him and they kill him off. Damn you, Lost writers!

I totally forgot all about Mr. Widmore until someone mentioned his name. I was wondering why they kept showing that pasty old man. Who knew he'd be a bigger germphobe than me. (Now it's got me thinking twice about touching those bathroom sinks -- yuk!) Next think you know I'll be wearing empty tissue boxes on my feet and growing a beard. And what's the deal with Penny? Fickle much? First she wants nothing to do with poor Des, then she agrees to accept his call in the future, then when he finally does call in the future, she acts as if she's been waiting for him all her life. WTF?!

Ugh, my head hurts again. Lurves me some HIC, and I hope he gets an Emmy nod this year. Thank God they didn't kill him off or I would have never forgiven the writers. Maybe seeing next week's "enhanced" version will make things clearer for me. Or not.

At any rate, I hope next week brings back the excitement because I hardly yelled at my TV tonight. Tonight's yell rating = 1 megaphone.

Heh.

Admittedly, going to the DMV is never a plesant task. Unfortunately, I had to go today because of a snafu in registering my "old" car, the Eclipse. Long story short, I needed to get the title transferred to my name (which I thought was done) and never got the registration renewal information. It was due last October. Coincidentally, around that time, I was busy getting the Xterra paperwork in order and worrying about its registration, etc., totally neglecting my other car. My beautiful little car was being ignored and slowly depreciating.

I tried to go online and see if I could take care of matters on the DMV website. I was able to do some things, but when I still hadn't heard from them (ie. sending me the registration renewal) I got nervous and decided to give them a call. Since a lot of time had passed, I was worried I was going to be faced with a huge late fee. I don't know what the regular fee would have been, but I spent over $200 getting this whole thing resolved today. It was inevitable I had to go to the DMV. Fortunately, they take appointments, which does ease the pain quite a bit. Surprisingly, with this modern convenience, I noticed that there were still those die-hards who toughed it out in line. I would highly recommend the appointment system.

Because I'm not a morning person (and getting old), I made an error in writing down my odometer reading on the title, and crossed out my mistake. That little bungle cost me another trip to the DMV as I need to get new signatures on another form, the Pope's blessing, etc., etc.

The moral of this story is: don't get old.

Heh, when I told my co-workers the title of this evening's episode, they looked at me like I was crazy. Then I had to clarify by saying you know, it's right next to Funkytown. Everyone got it. (Or, maybe they were just humoring me.) Onto the show...

I was going to be a huge nerd and take notes throughout the show so that I wouldn't miss anything, but I forgot. So now, not only am I a big nerd, I'm a big, forgetful loser nerd. Nevertheless, tonight's show, though good, wasn't as "pow" as last week's. I dare say, it may have even been predictable at times, but I still liked it (well, except for the Kate and Sawyer romp, but I see how that was a necessary evil now). But the hawtness that is Sawyer is just another present just for me-thank you Lost! We got the answer to why Kate isn't in jail during Jack's FF in S3, but - true to Lost form - for every answer, we get 50 new questions. Poor Desmond and Sayid...I wonder if they'll survive the trek to the freighter. And I don't care what those yayhoos say, I don't trust the Boaties (except for Daniel, I trust him just a little only because he's squirrely!). I knew the 'copter wouldn't have smooth sailing so-to-speak to the freighter, but it still worried me that they did not contact the Beachies by nightfall. Boy, am I gullible.

Meanwhile, the folks back at Otherton (or Eggtown, now that Locke has taken over), are enjoying their Dharma-brand "normal" living. I, for one, would think that they'd be more careful about the food, especially after not having some "real" food in awhile. For example, why did Locke waste the last 2 eggs on Benry, ESPECIALLY since Benry didn't eat them and Locke ended up throwing them against the wall? Granted, he probably didn't count on them going to waste, but I'm stuck on the fact that he didn't 1) save them for himself or 2) make them into an omelette for the community to partake. The crazy $#!^ I think about.

Then stupid Kate has a bug up her butt about talking to Miles. I think they've been under that island sun too long, but the Losties suuuuuuuuuck at interrogation. Except for Locke - now that he's grown a pair (heh), he's asking some good questions. True to form, stupid Kate botches her plan to get anything out of Miles...well, anything of importance to the rest of the world. Instead of asking him what he knows about Benry, she asked him what he knows about her. Wake up, Kate, it's not always about you! Oh looky, Kate gets more FF stuff. Bla bla bla bla bla trial. Bla bla bla bla mother. Bla bla bla bla Jack. Bla bla bla 1 minute overtime...bla bla bla baby...bla bla bla AARON?!?! BAM!

Ok, I can't say I wasn't spoiled as to the possibility that Claire wasn't going to make it off the island and back to the real world, but it still struck me as sad. The way Kate seemed all clingy to "him" was kind of creepy. And, I guess Jack finally got word that Aaron was his nephew (or did he?), but he didn't feel ready to see the baby. WTF, Jack?!

Oh, and was it just me who thought the cab driver was going to be someone dubious like Benry? Heh, I knew they wouldn't do that to me 2 weeks in a row. But still...

Ah, I still love this show. And I'm going to be sad, but hopefully relieved when it's all over. I'm still working on disk 2 of the S1 set. I started rewatching and it's been nothing but fascinating. I just hope the series ender won't be woefully disappointing. And I need to stop reading the spoilers. Oh, and I want a Vincent FF because I want to know whether or not he's really the brains behind the whole operation, because if he was, that would be AWESOME.

Now I get to catch up on 100+ pages on the boards...

Heh, granted when I first heard of this title, I had NO idea what to think except for hey, Ralph Nader is going to make a guest appearance! (Yes, sad that Ralph Nader is the first to come to mind when "economist" is mentioned.) [ETA: I meant Alan Greenspan. This is what happens when I blog after midnight. At least my brain cells are getting some sleep.] However, I digress...

The reason for the delay in posting my Lost Tawk is that, as usual, there is a battle going on in my household with the internet, cable, modem, router, you-name-it, The Kid and I are constantly at odds with this piece of technology. In a nutshell, the modem and router are in his room because I had originally had set it up so his desktop can have internet access for homework-related projects, etc., and since my laptop has wireless access, I was cool being linked via router. However...little did I realize that the modem was used for more nefarious shenanagins such as connecting to XBox live and playing games with other kids across the world. UGH! (sigh) Of course, The Kid insists that the reason for the loss of access isn't due to his video game playing, but because I bought a cheap router. (sigh) I keep telling him I can't WAIT until he starts making his own living and hope he could afford the top-of-the line of everything. Ooh, I can't wait! In the meantime...I'm tethered to the modem, in his room (ugh), so we have to share internet access. However, I do have the upper hand since I do more important things like paying bills (and blogging, heh) as opposed to wasting time playing video games...

Anyway, last week on Lost...we were treated to yet another flash-forward, and the answer to the 4th O6 survivor - Sayid. I guess once a terrorist, always a terrorist, even if you've survived a plane crash and returned to civilization. Who knew, however, that his future boss would be the infamous Benry! (Yes, I still like calling him Benry, even though his Henry days are over. It just has a crazier ring to it!) Wow, was that a total mind#$%^ at the end, or what?! I instantly recognized the voice when I heard it, but when I saw his face, it was like WOAH... That Benry is an evil genius. And, oddly, I still like him. Almost as much as Sawyer...or Desmond...almost.

Poor Hurley got suckered into luring Team Jack into a trap at the barracks. Anyone else find it odd (or maybe not so much) that Team Locke is behaving more and more like the Others used to in the beginning? All sly and cagey. Oh, and I'd like to thank Lost for giving me the bestest Valentine's Day gift ever -- a nearly shirtless Desmond. MmmmMMMM! I hope that's not the last we see of him (or his shirtless chest). They still have a lot of 'splainin to do with his storyline.

I would not have guessed how that episode ended. I think that German chick's (whose name escapes me, natch) boss ("The Economist") is also that notorious Benry, evil genius. Wouldn't that be a hoot?! I wouldn't put it past him. We are all merely pawns in Benry's world. Ok, so are we supposed to believe that the hidden closet in Benry's house is a portal? Is it his black box of travel? And, why does he dress all dorkified all the time when he has some slick threads in there? (Especially in that photo Miles had -- Oy!)

Some people say that in the last scenes, he had brown eyes...but I looked at the screen shots and it looks like the lighting was just a little off. Maybe to make it look all dark and foreboding. When he was in that veterinary clinic, I thought Vincent was the evil mastermind. It would be totally awesome if Benry's boss was Vincent!

Did I mention Desmond was practically shirtless???

As much as I was looking forward to this show tonight, this episode left me feeling unsatisfied. Although it answered some questions, true-to-Lost-form, it opened up 50 more. First, we are introduced to 4 new characters (Naomi's crew). And of course, they all have their quirks. What brings them together is the mysterious dude whose name escapes me that kept harranguing Hurley in the mental ward in last week's episode. Abboud? Abbound? Abbazabba? Whatever it is, it means something. Being that it's 2:00 am, I can't quite remember at the moment. Anyway...

The new characters have their "super powers" bla bla bla, but their main reason they're on the island is NOT to save them (yea, Jack, you idiot!), but to hunt for Benry. Benry, true to form, is making friends wherever he goes. What's funny is the photo these people even have to go on looks a surveillance-type picture of Ben looking like an accountant in an office. Good luck with that, folks. As we find out, they aren't exactly the brightest crayons in the box.

What I don't understand is the timing of the "super friends'" arrival to craphole island. We see them in various parts of the world in one scene, and suddenly on craphole island greeted by <del>cows</del> Kate and Jack in the next. Yea, I'm sure this little tidbit will be revealed sometime in season 5 (maybe), but by then, I'd have moved onto other mysteries. Thanks Lost.

Another mystery for me is the fact that when Sawyer referred to Benry as Alex's dad (right were Locke was about to take him out), Rousseau was right there and didn't even correct him. I was half hoping she'd give Sawyer a good elbow to the jaw, just like she did with Benry earlier. But, maybe I'm just asking for more gratuitous violence. I'd think with finally finding HER daughter, she'd make sure people knew that under no uncertain terms. But, what do I know? Silly me bringing logic into this mix.

So what do these people want with Benry? Who is Benry's plant on the boat? I checked the boards earlier and there were 22 pages of postings by the time the show finished for my time zone. I read the first 5 pages and so far, people thought the plant was Mikhal. I think it's emo Richard. Either one works for me as I know we hadn't seen the last of Mikhal after blowing up Charlie in the sub-station. Reverse-aging, island-hopping emo Richard is probably a teen by now.

Ok, random thoughts: what's with showing corpses in the plane on the news? How did a polar bear wearing a Dharma choker end up in the desert? Were we supposed to know the kid who ghostbuster Miles "communicated" with? What's with the dustbuster? Where does Claire store all her make up?

One last observation: the character of Benry was supposed to be temporary, but since Michael Emerson is a genius with the character, he became a permanent fixture on the show. It seems my earlier theory of the writers not having a clear direction of this series from the beginning holds true as the show now revolves around the magic of Ben. Don't get me wrong, I lurves me some Ben, but this arc leads me to think the writers are really making this up as they go along...which means we may never get any answers to questions from season 1.

Oh Lost, I wish I could quit you...
