food prices are rocketing in the UK, as news comes of a young girl who just died from starvation because of neglect by her parents, yes this is the UK, not a third world battle zone... apparently food prices are rocketing in the UK, and have gone up about 20% this year... and still the Supermarkets are raking in trillions in profits... I just heard that 1.3 million tiny little pots of yoghurt are thrown away each and every day in the UK... I'm not surprised, as soon as people see the slops that pass as yoghurt, so packed full of sugar and additives as to be on a level playing field with well eerr the pot that they come in, that, they chuck it in the bin in horror,... but, that's not the reason really is it ? They are just past their 'sell-by' date, even though we all know that Yoghurt is so packed full of rubbish that it will be here long after our demise.. it makes one wonder where it all goes, that's 7 million odd a week, 30 million a month, so on.... that's a lot of plastic & yoghurt to put in a land-fill, its really shocking... As prices rise perhaps people will stop buying this rubbish, or even stop going to the Supermarkets, ... all these figures are completely shocking and quite depressing, so much waste, supermarkets making so much money, and kids starving to death... whats has it all come to?..

You put together the perfect resume and emailed copies to five or 10 of your target companies. That was several weeks ago and you haven't heard a thing. Why haven't any of your potential employers called?
Of course, there could be any number of reasons, especially in a highly-competitive job market. However, if you are feeling stalled in your job search, it is a good time to be proactive and take steps to become a Top Job CandidateTM. Let's start with an honest self-check surrounding three ways you can turn off potential employers through the use of technology.
1.) Email addresses that aren't strictly business. Email is much more than just a method of delivering messages between yourself and potential employers. Your email address can say a lot about who you are. After all, people use their email addresses as an expression of their personalities. They declare their affiliations with political or social groups, express their love of nature or the environment, show their devilish side with a feeling a slight anonymity. All of which is fine, for the most part. However, when it comes to an active job search, less is definitely more -- as in tell potential employers a lot less about your personal life and you'll get a lot more interest.

Recruiters and potential employers see the use of inappropriate email addresses every single day. It brings the job candidate's judgment into question; offends potential employers or recruiters; and subjects the candidate to potential bias - intentionally or not.
2.) Hitting a sour note with ringtones and ringback tones. Cell phone technology allows users to show our individual style, personality, and flair. From customized ring tones to ringback tones. The ringback tone is what you hear when you call someone. Traditionally, it is a simple ring. But, thanks to recent technology, cell phone users can select a ringback that suits their personality. Most commonly the selected ringback is a popular song, a quote from a movie or television personality, or a short comedic dialogue.
The use of ringbacks can be precarious for job seekers. Potential employers and recruiters can be turned off, shocked, or offended by ringbacks featuring edgy, controversial music or objectionable comedy routines. Even ringbacks that you might consider safe -- orchestral music, standard classics, or inspirational music -- could be a turn off for some.
Don't take a chance on jeopardizing your chance of landing your dream job. Forego cutesy or edgy ringbacks and stick to the traditional ring, at least during an active job search. You can always go back to your favorite tones after you've secured your new dream job.
3.) De-valuing voicemail. Imagine that you are a recruiter or potential employer. You are overloaded with resumes, in addition to your usual duties. A potential job candidate's resume catches your attention and you give her a call, only to discover that she doesn't have voicemail. Will you call her again later? How many times will you call, hoping to catch the candidate before you move on to the next?
Don't risk missing out on your dream job because a potential employer can't reach you. Utilize voicemail during an active job search and be sure to check your messages regularly.
The mistake that job seekers typically make regarding voicemail is the use of a less than professional voicemail message. Think of your voicemail message as an audition tape for potential employers. Give them a sample of how you will sound on the phone with their customers. Keep your message simple and eliminate background noise or music and slang.
Technology plays a large role in our everyday lives. The use of email, mobile phones, and text messaging make communications easier, more casual. Use technology strategically during your job search. It will give you a definite edge over the competition and keep you from making three sure-fire mistakes that scare off potential employers.

]]>Je pensais à un truc l'autre jour dans les bouchons... est-ce que tous les blogueurs accros (pas les occasionnels, hein, les accros^^), ont, comme moi, deux vies en une?
Comme tout le monde, j'ai une vie, on va dire la numéro 1, une vie pour de vrai, IRL, avec des vrais gens qui me parlent, des vraies aventures qui m'arrivent, des trucs à raconter le soir et tout et tout... (si si je vous assure^^),
ET, en parallèle direct simultané automatique que je vis cette vie numéro 1, je sais que j'ai une vie numéro 2 en cours quelque part dans les cables ethernet et dans les nuages wifi.
Une vie numéro 2, tout aussi vraie pour moi que la vie numéro 1, avec des vrais blogs que je connais, des vraies discussions en cours, et des vrais trucs à raconter le soir et tout et tout .. hé hééé :)
Et voilà ce qui se passe: des échanges continus, entre la vie numéro 1 et la vie numéro 2, un vrai flot ininterrompu, au point que les deux ne forment plus qu'une pour moi: attention, pas dans le sens maladif, mais dans le sens naturel. Les deux sont pour moi aussi naturelles l'une que l'autre.
Quand on est dans l'une, on pense à l'autre, quand on est dans l'autre, on parle de l'une... et vice versa...
J'ai cherché une image pour illustrer tout ça sur mon ami google, mais n'ayant rien trouvé de parlant, je l'ai fabriquée de mes petites mains sur paint à partir d'une istock.... (minipez, admire le résultat steuplé^^)

Madonna wanted to stay with me, but there was no room for all her guitars, because yes, she is a ******' guitar player now, many years spent on the road in Rock 'n' Roll bands, then her time spent jamming with ACDC, Neil Young and Jimmy Page has meant she has ditched the disco queen of old, coz she's taking up The Blues in her later years, yes the latter part of her life will be spent treating us to the back catalogue of Robert Johnson at the ******' Crossroads, whence she made a pact with the devil and decided it was the best way to mature in a dignified manner, without the need for facial & body enhancing (?) surgery, coz when you play the Blues, its OK to be old.. hence,,, (stay with me)... her 9 song long set, and 2 hours spent changing guitars between numbers,... no, not for her the 1 guitar gig like her counterparts Coldplay, Radiohead, and eerrr ,, The Kooks, she needed 20 or was it 30,,, it was infact a guitar for every chord strummed... great idea, ditch the electro disco of late and get into guitar rock, its what we've all been ******' waiting for, thanks a bunch Madonna, next time your not welcome in Kent, and leave your ******’ guitars at home..

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 12, 2008 – Peace Corps Volunteers serving in China are accounted for and safe.
Earlier today, an earthquake registering 7.9 on the Richter scale occurred 55 miles northwest of the Peace Corps/China office in Chengdu, Sichuan province. There are currently 111 Peace Corps Volunteers serving in China. Individual Volunteers and local counterpart schools have collectively reported that all Volunteers are safe.
Peace Corps/Washington is in constant communication with the staff in China and the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu and U.S. Embassy in Beijing. The Peace Corps will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation and take any additional action, if necessary.
I'm late in the game on this, but I truly only recently had the time to look up this information. You see, one of my bestest friends from high school is a Peace Corps volunteer in the Sichuan province, and, well, with all the seismic activity there of late, I've been worried about his safety. While we haven't heard from him directly (you can only imagine the problems with communication lines over there), I'm sure he's been in touch with his parents (at least).
But seeing this press release certainly eased my concerns considerably.
